The latest high-tech layoffs in New Hampshire have hit Teradyne Connection Systems in Nashua and Hudson. The company that makes computer network components laid off 250 employees this week. Another 100 were laid off in March. |

Stocks made a rebound just under the wire, allowing the market to finish a strong week with more gains. The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 53 points at eleven-thousand-301, rising 480 for the week. The Nasdaq composite added five for the day, and the S-and-P 500 was up just under three and a-half. |

Here's a look at stocks of interest to New Hampshire investors. Autodesk closed down just over four. GE was up 88 cents. Keane Corporation was up eighty-three cents. Timberland was down a dollar thirty five. You-num was up a dollar ten. |

This Sunday an advertising blitz will begin airing criticizing President Bush's energy plan. New Hampshire environmentalists say conservation and investment in renewable energy sources are quicker, cheaper and safer solutions to the nation's energy problems than President Bush's plan. They said conserving energy could have an immediate effect, while Bush proposals to drill for oil in the Arctic will take years and only strengthen the nation's ties to fossil fuels. |

As New Hampshire communities begin looking for mosquitoes that can carry the West Nile virus, Portsmouth is the first city in the state to check city catch basins. The city's mosquito control consultant says so far, they have found the mosquitoes in about two of every ten catch basins they've checked. When they find them, they spray to kill the larvae. |

One of northern New Hampshire's popular summer events has been canceled. Attitash-Bear Peak has canceled the 17th annual Equine Festival according to the managing Director Tom Chasse it was a hard decision, but without a sponsor, they could not host the festival. He says they hope to be able to bring the festival back in the future. |

Despite the fact that some parts of the state have gotten light rain over the past few days, a state wide ban on fire permits remains in effect. To find out if there is any relief in sight for these dry conditions we spoke to Tod Hagen at the Mount Washington Observatory a few minutes ago. |
